Magical realism – Tiffany is a young journalist working for a New England small town newspaper. She is born with abilities to teleport and manipulate matter. When a domestic terrorist threatens to kill hostages she uses her powers to stop him, but she accidentally kills the ones she was trying to save. She vows to never use her powers again, and keeps that promise until 2032 when the new president implements martial law and shuts down the other branches of government.
